Safeguarding Policy

The Karlsson Játiva Charitable Foundation (the Foundation) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk.

Although the Foundation does not directly deliver services to children or adults at risk, we provide funding to organisations in the United Kingdom, the Nordic region and Latin America that work with children, families, vulnerable communities and other beneficiaries. We recognise our responsibility to take reasonable and proportionate steps to help ensure that children and adults at risk who benefit from projects we fund are protected from harm, abuse and exploitation.

 

Our approach

We have a Safeguarding Policy in place, informed by guidance from the UK Charity Commission and the International Child Safeguarding Standards developed by Keeping Children Safe.

In summary, we:

• Require all direct grantees to have appropriate safeguarding policies or equivalent frameworks in place, consistent with applicable law and good practice in their jurisdiction.
• Review safeguarding arrangements as part of our due diligence before making grants and request updated policies where relevant during the lifetime of a grant.
• Require grantees to notify us of serious safeguarding incidents relating to projects funded by the Foundation.
• Apply additional scrutiny where funding relates to work with children or adults at risk, or where projects operate in higher-risk environments.
• Take reasonable steps to ensure that images, case studies and communications shared through our platforms respect the dignity, rights and safety of children and adults at risk.
• Review our safeguarding arrangements regularly to ensure they remain appropriate to the nature and scale of our activities.
